PINGEY SOUND UPDATE
Why am I using external speakers and have the also the OnBoard audio On when the Scarlett Solo does everything? Because I was getting crashes and freezes when trying to watch a YT video and using Reaper at the same time (Suspect a Windows update done 2 years ago but im not sure). I assume its some "overload signal" from the Scarlett Solo into the Speakers, so check that out as well. I can put the Scarlett Solo Volume at any level and it just behaves as expected. but there is no Hiss or Spring noise or feedback of any kind like this. Just need to lower Reaper Volume to minus 26-28 Dbs or I would go deaf. Just to be sure I then decided to plug the Headphones Directly into the Scarlett Solo and play with its Volume knob as before. Proceed inserting the cotton balls until you get your desired sound. That way you can get the cotton started in the hosel and you can push it through the bottom of the hosel with a long narrow instrument.

Ignite Amp seems to be the "worse" Original TSE x50 (the free one) didn't suffered from this. I find it easier to unroll the cotton ball and shred it into strips. Using different VST's I noticed the noise would be lower or nonexistent or at much lower noise levels. 1 o'clock I can barely hear it but its still there.

Making it 2 o´clock and its very very similar to the problem you have Putting it around 3 o'clock there's still a hiss at the end Putting the Scarlet volume on its Max will make this huge feedback that doesn't even go away. So I usually have the Scarlett Volume knob around Mid (12 o'clock) or a bit below and control all Sound Volume on the Speakers. I use Headphones into the Speakers but this way I can have the Scarlett Solo only being used by Reaper and the Speakers are just to give me the Windows System sounds(Movies, Music, Skype, FB Chat etc). I have the Scarlett Solo that is sending the Sound (via LineOut) into some PC Speakers AUX IN. My Setup is a Laptop with VSTs in Reaper (similar to what you have).
